The Lagos State Government has said that it is tackling unemployment by training youths in employability soft skills.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs Yetunde Arobieke, said this on Tuesday during the free soft skills training and job interviews initiative, held in Agidingbi, Ikeja.
The programme was organised by the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment in conjunction with Jobberman Nigeria.
Arobieke said, “This programme is crucial as it will prepare our youth when evaluating organisations or institutions so as to identify recruiters’ requirements in relation to skills and attributes, knowing likely questions posed at interviews and learning good approaches in answering different types of interview questions.
“Collaborations like this are always welcome and encouraging to complement the efforts of the present administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his training of youths in employability soft skills, job interviews and addressing the challenges of unemployment in the state by ensuring that youths are engaged and are not left behind in the scheme of things.”

Youth Engagement Associate, Jobberman, Mr Damilola Odubanjo, explained that youths need more than academic skills to be employable.
